The
Gamil office is located within the Designbox space. Within the space
is an eclectic group of individuals who all have one major thing in
common: We want our place of business to be fun for ourselves and
our clients!
That
means comfort (like air-conditioning and a water cooler, and that
certain feeling that comes from a relaxing environment). It means
creative energy (like bouncing ideas around, and drinking too much
coffee, and cool sounds coming from different computers). It means
having 2 wonderful dogs in the office. And it means knowing that the
answer to any design challenge is somewhere in the room.

Aly
Khalifa started Gamil Design in October of 1995 to combine
his talents of design, engineering and product development. He has
degrees in both Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering from
North Carolina State University. His work has ranged from innovative
wind tunnel testing to a patented eyewear system. He has worked in
plastic, fabric and metal in the consumer products, sporting good
and medical equipment industries. He has been a Visiting Professor
at North Carolina State University School of Design and has led many
creativity workshops. In his spare time, he plays cello for various
rock and lounge bands, enjoys inline skating and cycling.
Beth
Khalifa joined the Gamil Design team in October, 1999, about
6 months after she and Aly got married. Her original degree was a
Bachelor of Music in 1989 and she received her design degree in 1993.
Beth and Aly joined forces professionally to add branding and marketing
to the services of Gamil Design. Beth specializes in Corporate Identity
and Consumer Branding, including logo and ID systems, catalogs, websites,
packaging, trade show booths, and advertising campaigns. She has also
led student and corporate workshops focusing on subjects such as branding,
eco-friendly graphic design and information graphics and design. Whenever
she gets the chance, she likes to travel. She sees the sights through
the lens, taking enough pictures to make even the most interested
person bored with the inevitable slide show.
Angus is excited to come to work each day, and always
give 100%. Angus has taken on the role of continuously
pushing the envelope of distraction techniques. His goal is to stare down whoever is most likely to take him with them on a walk to the bank or lunch. And he loves to flaunt his toys at people. He is comfortable handling a variety of tasks,
from guarding the water cooler, to welcoming each guest into the office.
He enjoys chewing, eating and sleeping in his off-hours.
And in loving memory of Matsa, who had an inspiring work and life ethic. She was naturally happy and supportive and had that rare ability to look forward to the next thing while still being able to enjoy the moment. She motivated everyone she met to take a brief respite from their busy day to pet her. Matsa took Angus under her wing, although a bit stubbornly, being an only pet til the ripe old age of 14. She was with Gamil almost since the beginning and with Beth for over 16 years (since she was an 8-week-old pound pup).
